Cutting the Meat

“Cutting the Meat” is a blunt way of describing the refining process that gets detailed in this session (and clarified in this week’s second session, Refining The Next Level Intention). In essence, we decided to optimize The Next Level initiative by removing some participants from the active dialogues. The outcome was two groups: The Meat, and the support team. (I like to think of this distinction like Varsity and Junior Varsity in high school sports—Varsity is the competitive team that plays other schools and expects the most from its players, and JV is the team that practices with Varsity, learns from Varsity and helps them improve, and develops its own players until they’re ready to play for Varsity. It wouldn’t make sense to include all JV players on the Varsity team—that would be distracting, it would slow Varsity down, and ultimately it would hurt the development of the JV players because their Varsity team would weaken.)

To make the cuts, Cory, Kars and Oliver went through every single participant in The Next Level chat group (some were participating remotely), and either said “Yes” or “No.”

In this session, Bentinho and the three of us dug in a little bit further with each participant who seemed to be “on the fringe” (not a full Yes and not a full No).

Part of why we make the people involved in these dialogues more concise is so all of us can go in depth on Next-Level foci, without it being dragged down into a distracting dialogue governed by the delusion of personhood.

Refining The Next Level Intention

Refining The Next Level Intention is a followup to Cutting the Meat. In this talk we worked to get crystal clear on the goal of The Next Level so it isn’t endless (no matter where you are there’s always a Next Level from there). When will we know when it’s over? How will we know when we’ve reached our goal?

The intention of The Next Level is not to do interpersonal work. The interpersonal work is the means with which to attain The Next Level intention.
